{"id":146676,"date":"2025-12-31T16:20:32","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T21:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/athletechnews.com\/?p=146676"},"modified":"2025-12-31T16:20:34","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T21:20:34","slug":"consumers-seek-strength-longevity-over-weight-loss-life-time-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/athletechnews.com\/consumers-seek-strength-longevity-over-weight-loss-life-time-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Consumers Seek Strength &amp; Longevity Over Weight Loss, Life Time Finds"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-strength-training-emerged-as-the-top-health-priority-for-the-year-ahead-according-to-life-time-s-2026-survey-of-members-and-non-members-while-longevity-is-becoming-a-key-motivator-for-fitness-goals\">Strength training emerged as the top health priority for the year ahead, according to Life Time&#8217;s 2026 survey of members and non-members, while longevity is becoming a key motivator for fitness goals<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>As the fitness and wellness industry heads into another New Year surge, Life Time\u2019s latest consumer research suggests the conversation is moving away from short-term weight loss and toward long-term strength, recovery and longevity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Life Time\u2019s 2026 Health and Wellness Survey, which polled both members of the upscale athletic country club and general consumers,&nbsp;82% of respondents say they plan to focus more on overall health and well-being in 2026, marking a&nbsp;7% increase from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strength &amp; Longevity Lead the Agenda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Strength training emerged as the top health priority for the year ahead, as 42.3% of respondents identified getting physically stronger as their primary 2026 health goal, making it the most cited objective in the survey.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly half (46.5%) said they plan to lift more weights in the New Year, far outpacing other workout modalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Longevity is also becoming a central motivator: 33.2% cited longevity as a key health driver, while&nbsp;46.4% pointed to overall fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStrength training is the new weight loss,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifetime.life\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Life Time<\/a> director of recovery and performance Danny King said. \u201cPeople are training more intentionally, to feel and perform better for longer \u2014 and pairing that with smarter recovery and objective health metrics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking ahead, respondents identified&nbsp;longevity (37.8%) as the wellness trend most likely to define 2026, followed by&nbsp;GLP-1 medications and peptides (24.4%)&nbsp;and&nbsp;AI-guided training (14.6%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI Draws Interest, With Caution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Artificial intelligence is also gaining traction, though adoption\u00a0seems measured.\u00a0According to Life\u00a0Time&#8217;s\u00a0findings, 35.3% of respondents report using AI tools regularly or occasionally\u00a0to support workouts, nutrition or health, while\u00a036.4% say they may be curious to explore AI-supported fitness tools in 2026. Not everyone is on board, though, as\u00a028.3% said they are not interested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among users, the most common AI applications include&nbsp;workout programming&nbsp;and&nbsp;nutrition guidance or tracking, suggesting that consumers view AI as an assistive tool rather than a replacement for human coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sleep Over Snacks, Solo Over Social<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When forced to choose, respondents overwhelmingly favored recovery over indulgence:&nbsp;nearly 69% said they would&nbsp;select getting&nbsp;eight hours of sleep over&nbsp;eating&nbsp;unlimited snacks without weight gain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sleep quality and stress levels, however, remain mixed heading into the New Year:&nbsp;43.1% rated their sleep quality as good, while&nbsp;32.4% described it as average. Stress levels showed a similar split:&nbsp;43% said stress feels about the same,&nbsp;22.7% reported less&nbsp;stress&nbsp;and&nbsp;34.3% reported more stress&nbsp;entering 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Workout preferences continue to lean&nbsp;independent, as&nbsp;50.5%&nbsp;said they&nbsp;prefer exercising solo, while&nbsp;33.6% favor group fitness classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplements, Social Media &amp; Trusted Guidance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supplement priorities are also evolving, with&nbsp;protein, multivitamins and vitamin D&nbsp;ranking as the most important, followed by&nbsp;electrolytes and magnesium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to learning about new health and fitness trends,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/athletechnews.com\/fitness-wellness-brands-influencer-to-expert-marketing\/\">certified professionals remain the top source, but\u00a0social media ranked a close second<\/a>, ahead of friends and family, news outlets and podcasts, demonstrating the <a href=\"https:\/\/athletechnews.com\/fitness-influencers-it-pays-to-be-authentic-study-sudor\/\">growing influence of digital platforms on consumer decision-making.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-life-time-scales-longevity-nutrition-amp-digital-wellness\">Life Time Scales Longevity, Nutrition &amp;
